The Orleans Parish Civil District Court hosts a Self-Help Resource Center that is an operation of The Pro Bono Project and The Family Justice Center in partnership with the court and the clerk's offices, and with funding from the Louisiana Bar Foundation and is open daily.

The Self-Help Resource Center is a volunteer-driven service, offering court-approved forms and legal information to self-represented litigants in domestic (family law) matters such a divorce, custody, child-support, visitation, etc. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM until noon, excepting court holidays, volunteers from the Pro-Bono Project are available on-site. Visitors must be signed in by 11:30 AM in order to receive service the same day. For individuals who need assistance on Tuesday and Thursday from the pro-bono project volunteers they may reach out to the virtual help-desk via email at selfhelp@probono-no.org or via telephone at 504.881.1171

The Self-Help Resource Center is not a notary service, and volunteers will notarize only the court-approved forms available at the center.

Additionally, the Self-Help Resource Center is not able to provide legal advice or representation, but can provide referral resources for those seeking legal advice or representation.

In addition to the Self-Help Resource Center staff from the Pro-Bono Project, the Family Justice Center provides assistance to individuals who may need information regarding domestic abuse and domestic violence.
